The Sheridan County Museum

So after two weeks of rain we thought that maybe it had stopped and we could get out and do something, we were halfway correct. Since it was way to soggy to go hiking and the odds were still pretty good that it would rain again (It did) we decided to go to a museum. This time we chose The Sheridan County Museum because while it is fairly close to our home in Buffalo we still hadn't managed to check it out yet.
This handsome artist greeted us at the door.

There were a few hands on projects, like this map that Freyja really enjoyed. I admit the possibility that we placed some of the rectangular counties in the wrong places. I'm not from Wyoming and didn't take this class in school.

This is a hands on and a diorama of  Tie  Flume, which I had heard about from a friend and was happy to learn more about. I learned quite a lot about Tie Flume and I learned where one of our favorite fishing and hiking spots, Tie Hack, got it's name.

The museum has several interactive dioramas and lots of general information about the history of Sheridan and the surrounding area.

Freyja loved this informational touchscreen.
Another hands on for Freyja to touch, she said she liked the "Gold" the best.

Outside Freyja was happy to pat this beautifully artistic horse.

Although she was disappointed that she couldn't go inside the Trolly do to structural instability, she happily posed along side of and in front of it.

I honestly learned a lot today, I learned about everything from sugar beets to  German POWs in Sheridan Fields. While The Sheridan Museum isn't one of the new high tech museums that you often find in the larger cities, it is full of interesting information about the area. If you happen to be passing through, I would definately recomend checking it out. If you live in the area and haven't been here yet, make it a destination this summer. We had a lovely afternoon and hope you did too.

Have You ever been to The Sheridan County Museum? What did you think of it? Do you have any recommendations for us to check out in Sheridan County, Wyoming?
